After completing degrees in History and Business Administration at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas, Troy spent the early part of his career undertaking regulatory management roles in the telecommunications industry before retraining as a psychologist. He obtained his degree in psychology from the University of Hawaii and his MSc from California School of Professional Psychology, Los Angeles. He then returned to the telecommunications industry, initially in HR, before managing the successful start up of an Internet Service Provider.

In addition to HR and business start up experience, he has a number of years experience as a member of the Executive Leadership Team in a US-based mid-sized Owner Managed Business. He has special interest in assessment, development and coaching of senior leaders, as well as enhancing organisational effectiveness through structural and cultural change. He has consulted internationally in a wide range of sectors including financial services, retail, telecommunications, engineering and professional services. He has also conducted, presented and published research on organisational 'High Flyers'.
